Rumination

When your brain locks into a painful cycle of thoughts, it needs to be put to work.

You don't need to drug yourself so just put the food, or your choice of drug, down.

Your thoughts get out of control sometimes and that's ok. That is what the human brain does.

Give yourself 5 minutes and write down all of the thoughts your brain is spinning on.

After you have written the thoughts down and acknowledged them, it's time to put your brain to work.

Your brain needs a job, otherwise it will stay locked in judgment, negativity, and anxiety.

Your primal brain is designed to scan for danger and keep you safe.

This part of the brain is activated when you are ruminating.

So, when your brain goes into a loop of negativity, judgment, and anxiety, you must direct it.

My favorite way to manage my primal brain is to give it a job.

Put it to work by solving a problem.

Asking your brain a question is an excellent way to put it to work.

When you ask your brain a question, it will go looking for an answer.

Remember, don't ask what is wrong with you or other people!

Don't ask it scary, what if, questions either!

It will find all sorts of evidence!

Ask your brain useful questions.

  • How can I contribute to humanity?

  • What are my innate gifts that I can share with the world?

  • Who can I show love to?

  • What work needs to be done?

  • What can I create?

You do not want a mindless job, it has to be something that will engage your brain.

Your thoughts get out of control sometimes, and that's ok. That is what the human brain does.

Accept that this is the part of life that is negative.

When you stop trying to be happy all of the time and accept all of your emotions, you will find a space of peace.

In this space, you still feel the negative emotion, but instead you will find that it's not so negative anymore.

It's all part of being a human.

Your brain freaks out and obsesses about silly things to keep you safe.

Nothing is wrong!

Your brain thinks it's helping you by just doing its job.

Take a deep breath and tell your brain to relax.

You got yourself.

Your higher self, which is the essence of you, is the part who always feels love, connection, and contribution.

This side of you is always still there holding strong.

She is always waiting for you to come back.

Meditate, exercise, journal, thought work, or whatever type of self-care you prefer are ways to come back to her.

She is always waiting for you to come back.

She never leaves, relax, this is all part of the process of life.
