Finding Joy in the Pursuit
I have been on a several-year quest to become empowered around money.
I want complete freedom with money, and by that, I mean emotional freedom.
I don’t care about materialistic stuff in the gluttonous way most think of financial freedom.
Big house.
Redecorating Constantly.
Nice car.
Name brand clothes.
Shopping constantly.
Expensive vacations.
Keeping up with the Jones's.
What I care about is complete emotional freedom.
I care about not being dependent on money for happiness, and not having money limit me in what I want to do.
So what does this process look like?
I have done a lot of money work in my thoughts and emotions, and I have found financial freedom is a lot easier than you’d think.
And it’s fun!
I have been having an enjoyable time chasing this goal.
When you pursue a goal for the fun of it and not because you will hate yourself if you don’t achieve it, it makes life exciting.
Most of my clients need to lose weight and feel emotionally better because they are drowning in pain. I was at this point as well years ago.
While this is totally normal and there is no shame in it, it’s so much more fun when you don’t have such high stakes.
But did you know that any goal can be viewed as a fun pursuit?
Nothing needs to be achieved for the reason that if you don’t, you’ll be miserable and hate yourself.
I started life coaching because I believed money was the source of my misery.
We didn’t make enough, and I felt so limited and trapped.
I decided to pursue financial freedom with scarcity, lack, hustle, and not enough-ness.
Which kind of/sort of worked. It was the equivalent of the days when I used to diet.
I used to lose and gain with the scale going up and down, and with this financial goal, my bank account went up and down.
After a few years of this, I remembered…
I had previously permanently lost weight by no longer dieting and instead taking the long route of healing emotionally, which changed my relationship with food.
I decided to do this with money, as well.
Then the path became so much fun, and the process became an adventure.
It was a complete joy to find myself, what I really cared about, what I valued, and how any problem is 💯 in your mind.
Any problem is just an opportunity to grow, change, learn, and discover another path to walk down.
When you have your head down, and you’re hustling your face off to get the result you want, you miss the journey of seeing the sights along the way.
You miss smelling the new happenings, hearing the new sounds, and feeling the new experiences.
You miss the joy of learning new things and finding pleasure in your brain exploding with aha's!
You are where you are right now, and you are fine.
Seriously!
It may feel like you are miserable, but only when you think things need to get better before you can feel joy.
Find the joy now, and find joy in each day.
Celebrate your tiny successes and journal every little new triumph.
This keeps you in gratitude and enjoying the process.
